Welcome to RIVA, a comprehensive image database specifically designed for conventional Pap smear cytology. Our collection features 959 images from diverse samples, each independently annotated by expert cytologists. These images cover a wide spectrum of cellular lesions, offering a valuable resource for both research and clinical investigations.
The RIVA Image Database is part of the project titled 'Feasibility study for the development of a remote and real-time diagnosis system for fixed cervicovaginal cytological smears (PAPs) assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI).' This project is funded by the Centro de Inteligencia Artificial y Salud para América Latina y el Caribe (CLIAS), with support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada and the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, Universidad de Buenos Aires. The project is a collaboration between researchers and students from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, and Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires, alongside doctors from Hospital Bernardino Rivadavia in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Visit our CLASSIFICATION page to explore the images and their detailed annotations. Our database is a valuable tool for advancing the understanding of cytological patterns and improving diagnostic accuracy. We believe that RIVA will become an essential resource for cytology research, supporting the enhancement of diagnostic techniques and contributing to advancements in global healthcare.
